Gouda (Flanders)
A cheese with a rich, buttery, slightly sweet flavor and smooth, creamy texture which develops complex caramel flavor and a firmer texture when aged. A well aged Gouda complements wines that are deeply flavoured such as a rich Merlot or Shiraz.
Usage: Gouda is a great melting cheese; Often used in homemade macaroni and cheese. It works well on any cheese board, compiled with other cheeses. You can use Gouda in a lot of dishes including cheese based soups, smoked gouda mashed potatoes, grilled cheese sandwiches and in fondue.
It may be grated, sliced, cubed or melted. Mostly used as a table cheese or dessert cheese.
